SibMed improved its position in the ranking of the best universities in the world

There has been published Moscow International University Ranking "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR) 2021. It is the SibMed's third year in the ranking and the University shows a positive trend. It has improved its position and entered the 801-900 interval group in the world ranking and the 29-31 interval group among Russian universities.

The ranking included 1,650 universities from 97 countries. Russia is represented by 112 universities.

Moscow International University Ranking is a fundamentally new academic ranking, which first evaluates all three key missions of the university: Education, Research and University & Society.

Along with standard parameters, the Three University Missions measures the contribution of universities to the development of society. This is especially valuable for SibMed as the COVID-19 pandemic has very clearly demonstrated the importance of the "third mission" of medical universities. Earlier they used to be focused more on professional development and retrainig, education of the population on health issues. Today medical universities all over the country are actively involved in the process of saving people and providing assistance to practical healthcare,” explained SibMed Rector Evgeny Kulikov.

Now Russia is one of the top three world leaders in terms of the representation of universities in the ranking. The list of the best universities in the world includes educational institutions from 39 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Most of these universities are located in Moscow (33) and St. Petersburg (11). Five universities from the Tomsk region and Tatarstan and four from the Samara region are also included in the ranking.

The initiative to create the ranking was supported by the leading universities of Russia, China, India, Iran, Turkey and Japan. The ranking methodology underwent a large-scale public discussion in Russia and abroad with more than 100 universities taking part in it.

While compiling the rating, there were used only objective criteria approved by international experts. Reputation polls were completely excluded. At the same time, a range of information sources was much wider than one traditionally used for popular rankings.
