SibMed received an international bronze certificate of the Healthy Campus program

21.10.2021

23 universities around the world received special certificates from the International University Sports Federation (FISU) as part of the Healthy Campus program. Among them there are universities from Spain, Australia, South Korea, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and other countries.

The Healthy Campus program was developed by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). It is aimed at improving the wellbeing of students and the campus community as a whole. The goal of the program is to reverse the long-standing trend of young people putting their health at risk while studying.

"As a medical university, SibMed has always worked towards improving the population health and forming healthy eating habits. It is exactly 2021 that has been declared the Year of Health at our University. The certification indicates that SibMed complies with the FISU standards and policies and promotes a healthy lifestyle among students. Moreover, this certificate allows us to participate in the FISU programs and initiatives," commented Alexander Ratkin, Vice-Rector for Extracurricular Activities and Social Policy.

The FISU Healthy Campus Program awards universities around the world that promote a healthy lifestyle on campus. Based on 100 criteria developed by the world's leading experts, universities are assessed in seven areas:

  • physical activity and sports;
  • nutrition;
  • disease prevention;
  • mental and social health;
  • risky behavior;
  • environment, sustainability and social responsibility;
  • healthy campus management.

The authors of the program are convinced that universities should encourage students and staff to live healthy lives by providing them with opportunities in the areas of physical activity, health and nutrition and by making it part of the daily life on campus.

As part of the program, participating universities register on an Internet platform that allows them to assess their level and exchange experiences. Universities receive certificates of the Healthy Campus program for the implementation of programs for health improvement and physical education.
