Dances, folk songs and presentations: SibMed students from the English-language program participated in the international Carnival fest

30.11.2022

SibMed held the international Carnival fest for its first-year students of the English-language program "General Medicine". The event was timed to coincide with the beginning of the academic year. Participants enjoyed performances, folk dances and many other activities that the University organized for them.

During the fest, students sang Russian, Colombian, Nigerian, Namibian and Indian songs and demonstrated Russian and Indian dances. In addition, the participants gave presentations in English on culture and customs of their countries.

Student of the English-language program "General Medicine" Nimako Kwesi Agyei, who came to study from Ghana, shared his impressions of SibMed and the city of Tomsk.

"I liked Tomsk because it is cozy and quiet and you can easily find friends as it is full of international students. I was warmly welcomed by SibMed – it's beautiful and teachers are polite and friendly," said Nimako Kvesi Agyei.

The "General Medicine" program is implemented entirely in English. However, future doctors have additional classes of Russian, which helps them to improve the quality of interaction with patients.

Students master fundamental medicine, therapy, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, childhood diseases, neurology, ophthalmology. International students undergo practical training in the University's Clinics, where about 100 thousand patients are treated annually.

In 2022, 34 students from more than 10 countries — India, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, China, Pakistan, Algeria, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and others — entered SibMed. The English-language program was first launched at SibMed back in 2015.
