IntechOpen published the book on allergology in co-authorship with SibMed employees


The staff members of the Immunology and Allergology Division co-authored the book
"Allergic Disease — New Developments in Diagnosis and Therapy", published by one of the largest publishing houses "IntechOpen". The chapter of the book, written by the representatives of Siberian State Medical University, is now one of the most downloaded from the publisher's website.

The chapter "Food Allergies: New Challenges of Our Civilization", dedicated to food allergy, was written by the SibMed Immunology and Allergology Division staff members under the leadership of the Division's Head — Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Vladimir Klimov. The team of scientists included Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Division Natalia Cherevko, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Natalia Koshkarova and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Assistant of the Otorhinolaryngology Division and Associate Professor of the Immunology and Allergology Division Andrew Klimov. 

The chapter is a review of the current literature on all aspects of food allergy, as well as the role of the intestinal microbiota. In this chapter, SibMed scientists evaluated the influence of the nervous system through neurotransmitters and neuropeptides on the development of food allergies and introduced the term "enteric neuroimmune system". It features the separation of neuromolecules into proimmunogenic and protolerogenic, first proposed by Vladimir Klimov in the book "AllergenTolerance" (2022). 

The book "Allergic Disease — New Developments in Diagnosis and Therapy" provides an overview of various types of allergies, modern methods of diagnosis and treatment, including allergen-specific immunotherapy. An international team of allergists from all over the world worked on the publication.

In 2021, the publication "From Basic to Clinical Immunology" under the authorship of Vladimir Klimov, Head of the SibMed Immunology and Allergology Division, entered the Top 32 best books on allergy and immunology of all time according to the ranking of the independent agency "BookAuthority". It became a bestseller. Vladimir Klimov has written a number of internationally recognized publications on immunology, including those used by SibMed students.
