12.05.2022

On May 12, SibMed launched a biobank. Lyudmila Ogorodova, Deputy Governor of the Tomsk Region for Scientific and Educational Complex and Digital Transformation, took part in the event.

The SibMed biobank was created and equipped as part of the strategic project "Precision Medicine" of the Priority 2030 program in the SibMed Central Research Laboratory. The biobank complies with all international standards and is certified according to the ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

"The SibMed biobank will bring biomedical research in the region to a new level and will contribute to the development of domestic medical technologies. Undoubtedly, the project will increase the attractiveness of the Russian science and education for domestic researchers, young scientists and students," commented Lyudmila Ogorodova.

The biobank will be used to obtain, identify and store biological samples, for example, cells and tissues, blood components, DNA and RNA isolated from biomaterial. In the future, the analysis of these data will enable biobank experts to make individual genetic passports of patients and implement the principles of personalized medicine.

The SibMed biobank has been included in the National Association of Biobanks and Biobanking Specialists.
