SibMed will be one of the first Russian universities to issue digital education documents

24.06.2022

SibMed is among the 37 Russian universities whose graduates will be able to receive electronic diplomas as part of the experiment on digitalization of education documents by the Government of the Russian Federation. Diplomas will be stored in a single register, access to their data will be organized through the Gosuslugi portal.

The initiative is being implemented in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1059 of June 10. The experiment will be conducted in three stages. The mechanism for creating digital documents will be tested on certificates of secondary general education. Then diplomas of higher education will be included in the experiment.

“Digitalization of education documents will simplify their use in various life situations, for example, when applying for a job or submitting documents for admission to an educational institution. So, employers or representatives of the university will be able to check the submitted information at any time. An electronic diploma will have legal force on a par with a paper one,” said Alexander Miroshnichenko, SibMed Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

It is assumed that digital education documents will duplicate their paper originals at the first stages of the experiment. Like paper ones, digital diplomas will contain information about the graduate, the education and qualifications received, the specialty, as well as the list and volume of disciplines mastered. SibMed graduates will be able to receive their first digital diplomas in 2023.
