Grading System
SibMed uses the official Russian five-point academic grading system:
5 – “Excellent” – denotes highest distinction and excellent knowledge of a subject
4 – “Good” – denotes good knowledge of a subject
3 – “Satisfactory” – denotes hardly any knowledge; below average
2 – “Unsatisfactory/Poor” – denotes hardly any knowledge; below average; the first level of failing
1 – “Failure” – denotes complete failure; it is rarely used and can be given as a result of failure to show up for the exam
Also, marks as ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ are given to students for some type of assignments or mid-term exams.
