07.11.2024
As part of our efforts to expand international cooperation, a delegation from ‘Shandong Greenriver Consulting’ recently visited Siberian State Medical University. During the visit, the company representatives discussed potential areas of collaboration with the university administration. The discussions centered around the possibility of establishing dual degree programs with Chinese universities, as well as attracting Chinese students to study in both English-language programs (‘General Medicine’, ‘Dentistry’) and Russian-language programs at the bachelor's, specialist, and master's levels.
The delegation showed particular interest in the master's programs offered by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, including ‘Biotechnology’ and ‘Industrial Pharmacy’, as well as the master's program ‘Public Health’ at the Department of Pediatrics. They also expressed their readiness to sign a cooperation agreement to develop joint educational programs and facilitate international recruitment. Additionally, the parties explored the possibility of organizing internships and training opportunities for students and faculty at Chinese universities.
Ekaterina Pleshkova, Head of the International Development Department, commented on the visit, stating, "Our university is committed to building long-term partnerships with Chinese universities, and we have taken a fundamental approach to this cooperation. Our goal is to establish a system of collaboration that will not only contribute to the university's development, but also enhance its international reputation. This is why we initially focused on joint research projects with Chinese colleagues, which have resulted in publications, grant applications, and joint initiatives in related areas. For example, our partnership with Wenzhou Medical University has not only strengthened our scientific cooperation, but also led to a successful joint internship program for medical cyberneticists. We are now eager to expand our collaboration to include joint educational initiatives, such as dual degree and network programs. Furthermore, we hope to welcome Chinese students to our university next year. This visit by our colleagues marks the first step towards establishing cooperation with China in the field of international recruitment."
During their visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to tour the SibMed Clinics. The chief physician, Sofia Nesterovich, and the deputy chief physician for development, Maxim Zorkaltsev, provided an overview of the clinics' operations, with a special focus on their integration into the educational process.
The delegation also visited the university's laboratories, where they were introduced to the work of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences by Acting Dean Alexandra Melentyeva and Head of the Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Mikhail Belousov. The Chinese guests were impressed by the unique scientific infrastructure and were pleased to learn that the laboratories are not only used by research staff, but also by students who are actively involved in scientific activities.
Overall, the delegation from ‘Shandong Greenriver Consulting’ had a positive experience during their visit to Siberian State Medical University.
They expressed their hope for the active development of cooperation, which will not only attract Chinese applicants to our university, but also facilitate the implementation of unique educational and internship programs for our students, faculty, and researchers.
