14.04.2025

This is the second time that SibMed has participated in the international Olympiad "Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project". Winning the Olympiad will allow talented students from other countries to become SibMed postgraduate students without taking entrance exams and study for free.

The Olympiad was structured in three stages. The first stage is conducted as a portfolio competition, while the second stage involves solving Olympiad tasks. At the third stage of the Olympiad, participants had to choose a potential scientific supervisor and be interviewed by them.

This year, SibMed's potential scientific supervisors were:

  • Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education and Research, Head of the Intermediate-Level Pediatrics Division with a Pediatric Diseases Course of the General Medicine Department Olga Fedorova
  • Head of the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Division with Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Course Ludmila Spirina
  • Professor of the Pediatrics Division with Endocrinology Course Maria Matveeva
  • Professor of the Intermediate-Level Therapy Division with Endocrinology and Clinical Pharmacology Courses Tatiana Saprina,
  • Head of the Pharmacology Division Olga Vaizova
  • Head of the Chemistry Division Maria Zykova
  • Associate Professor of the Pediatrics Division with Endocrinology Course Daria Podchinenova
  • Associate Professor of the Biophysics and Functional Diagnostics Division Ludmila Smaglii.

SibMed’s representatives reviewed more than 100 portfolios and conducted online interviews with the candidates who were most interested in admission to postgraduate programs.

As a result, 9 candidates from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Ghana were selected in "Clinical Medicine and Public Health" and "Biology and Biotechnology". The organizers of the Olympiad appreciated the professionalism of the scientific supervisors and the SibMed team and expressed their readiness for long-term cooperation.

The Open Doors: Russian Scholarship Project Olympiad is held for prospective students of Master's and postgraduate programs. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The project is organized by the Association of Global Universities. In 2025, about 150,000 people from 185 countries took part in the Olympiad.
